Expedition cruise to four Arctic islands
An epic expedition cruise combining the arctic islands of Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Greenland and Iceland. The many fantastic sites along the west coast of Svalbard, such as the former whaling village of Smeerenburg , are only accessible during the short summer due to the warm Gulf Stream. On your way to Greenland you will sail as close as possible to the pack ice, the kingdom of the polar bear! As the pack ice retreats in the summer, the polar bears ride the ice floes north, where their prey - the seals - reside. In this area of immense beauty you will also have the chance to admire walruses, whales, and millions of seabirds. Via the enigmatic Jan Mayen Island, the expedition ship sails to Scoresbysund 's Ittoqqortoormiit settlement and the deep fascinating fjord system beyond. You will cross the Straits of Denmark to Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, before disembarking in the middle of the city center.
